TOTW - Daniel Keller named after Week 7 performance

The defender earned his second nomination of the season

Indy Eleven extended their home unbeaten streak to 21 straight games in Saturday's 0-0 draw with FC Edmonton. For his performance in keeping Indy's second clean sheet of the year, defender Daniel Keller was named to the NASL Team of the Week for Spring Week 7. In shutting down the Eddies, Keller won all three of his tackles and seven of his ten duels, made three clearances, and intercepted a crucial pass to keep the Canadian side off the scoresheet.

GK: Romuald Peiser (San Francisco Deltas) – The veteran goalkeeper made four saves in San Francisco’s 2-1 road win against North Carolina FC. The shot-stopper’s saves were of the highest quality, including stopping Nazmi Albadawi from point-blank range on a breakaway.

DEF: Daniel Keller (Indy Eleven) – He had a strong game in a 0-0 draw with FC Edmonton, winning all four of his tackles and eight of his 11 duels, to help preserve the clean sheet.

DEF: Dejan Jaković (New York Cosmos) – The Canadian international won all four of his tackles and five of his six of duels. He also had four clearances and five interceptions in the 1-1 draw with Jacksonville Armada FC. 

DEF: Abdoulaye Diakité (FC Edmonton) – Last year’s Young Player of the Year made an incredible 21 clearances and nine interceptions in the draw with Indy. He also won six duels and two tackles.

DEF: Adam Straith (FC Edmonton) – The Canadian international made 12 clearances and two interceptions. He also won three duels in the Eddies taking a point home on the road.

MID: Cristian Portilla (San Francisco Deltas) – The midfielder picked up a pair of assists on quality deliveries from set pieces. He also created five chances and connected on 41 of his 49 passes. He also earned Player of the Week honors.

MID: Zach Steinberger (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He scored on a stunning volley to earn a point and keep Jacksonville unbeaten in the 1-1 draw with the New York Cosmos. He also created two chances and battled in the midfield, winning all four of his tackle attempts and winning seven duels.

MID: Javi Márquez (New York Cosmos) – The veteran midfielder curled his free kick into the bottom right corner to open the scoring for New York in the draw with Jacksonville. He also won three tackles and eight duels.

MID: Jemal Johnson (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He sent in the cross that Zach Steinberger volleyed home for the equalizer. He also connected on 30 of his 32 passes and created three chances.

MID: Jackson (San Francisco Deltas) – Entering the contest against North Carolina FC as a substitute, he had the decisive touch, finishing off Cristian Portilla’s free kick for the game-winning goal.

FWD: Jaime Chávez (Miami FC) – The forward came on as a sub and changed the game for Miami. His shot led to the rebound that led to Vincenzo Rennella’s goal before scoring the game-winner from his knees on a header in the 2-1 win over Puerto Rico FC.
