TWO WEEKS AWAY
Three weeks through the Fall Season, Indy Eleven is in a similar position in both the Fall and Combined Standings with plenty of potential to move up a few spots in both. Their mission of climbing the ladder in search of a playoff spot continues with this weekend's trip to New York to face the Cosmos, the second trip in as many weeks after a visit to Spring Season champions Miami FC.
Last time in the Big Apple, Indy Eleven earned a 1-1 draw with the Cosmos after a converted penalty late in the match saw the hosts claw one back. For Indy, midfielder Ben Speas got off the mark. The "Boys in Blue" are unbeaten against New York in two contests with the second coming one week later in Indy in a 2-1 win.
WHO TO WATCH INDY ELEVEN EDITION: FW JUSTIN BRAUN
After a few weeks away nursing an ankle injury, forward Justin Braun is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday night.
Braun still leads "Indiana's Team" in goals (7) and assists (4) despite having not played since the Spring Season finale against Jacksonville Armada FC. Without Braun, Indy has gone 1-0-2 in the Fall with losses against FC Edmonton (H) and Miami FC (A) and a win against the Eddies in Edmonton to add to the good.
WHO TO WATCH NEW YORK COSMOS EDITION: FW EMMANUEL LEDESMA
Emmanuel Ledesma has caused trouble for Indy in both of their meetings in the Spring Season – scoring one at home in the draw before netting the Cosmos' only goal in their 2-1 loss to "Indiana's Team" one week later. Collecting just one point in their last two games, the Cosmos look to bounce back with Ledesma leading the line.
Ledesma has tallied six goals, placing him T-5 in the league, and two assists in just 11 appearances in 2017.
MATCH-UP TO MARK: MF BEN SPEAS vs DF RYAN RICHTER
Two impact players on separate sides, the influence of Indy midfielder Ben Speas weighs up on the influence of Cosmos man Ryan Richter on Saturday night.
Speas has been there when it counted most for the "Boys in Blue," scoring one of his three goals of the year so far in the July 4 meeting at MCU Park. The former Minnesota United FC fixture doesn't just put it in the back of the net, though; Speas also has two assists in his last three games.
Richter is proving to be NYC's "Ironman" so far in 2017, with the defender being the only member of the squad to feature in all 19 league games in which he has logged over 1600 minutes. The former Ottawa Fury FC talisman has played all 90 minutes in every game since April 22 and is no stranger to the attack, scoring one goal while dishing two assists this year.
