INDIANAPOLIS (October 10, 2017) – Indy Eleven, the Indy Eleven Soccer Foundation, and Prime 47 Steakhouse in Indianapolis are proud to announce a total of $7,877 raised for the Carmelo Anthony Puerto Rico Relief Fund to assist in aiding the island of Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.
“We are thrilled with the outpouring of support from our fans and the Indianapolis community in helping Puerto Rico Football Club and the island in a difficult time,” said Indy Eleven President Jeff Belskus. “We want to continue to aid our fellow club and its fans, and though there is a long road ahead, we are here to support how we can.”
On Tuesday, October 3, Indy Eleven hosted members of Puerto Rico FC for a media event and reception at Prime 47 Steakhouse downtown. The restaurant announced they would donate 25% of all proceeds from dining sales purchased through the entire evening. The Indy Eleven Soccer Foundation committed to matching Prime 47’s efforts which resulted in a combined contribution of $3,000.
On Wednesday, October 4, Indy Eleven continued their efforts by gathering funds at the night’s match against Puerto Rico Football Club. Thanks to the Indy Eleven fans and “Hoosier Hospitality,” the crowd amassed $4,877 to also contribute to the Puerto Rico Relief Fund.
“It was extremely moving to see our fans give whatever they had in their pockets without hesitation to support a cause like this,” said Indy Eleven Community Relations Manager Bianca Velez. “We came together as a community to do something that was bigger than soccer and we hope that our donation makes a difference to our friends and family in Puerto Rico.”
The Carmelo Anthony Puerto Rico Relief Fund has raised over $300,000 of its $1,000,000 goal, and Indy Eleven will continue its fundraising efforts when the club hosts “La Naranja” on Saturday, October 21 at 3:00 PM. For more information on how to donate, visit www.indyeleven.com.
