Indy Eleven defender Kevin Venegas has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 14 of the 2018 season. The Long Beach, Cali. native notched his first goal and assist in last Saturday’s 3-1 win over Toronto FC II.
The 28-year-old defender has featured in the starting lineup in all six of his appearance so far in 2018. Venegas has clocked 515 minutes, registered 12 clearances and completed eight interceptions on the season.
Before he joined the “Boys in Blue”, Venegas spent the last six seasons with Minnesota United FC. The right back was one of the first two Major League Soccer signings in Minnesota United FC history and in 2015 earned a spot in the NASL Best XI.
The “Boys in Blue” take to the road Tuesday, June 26 at 8:30 p.m., to take on Nashville SC for the second time this season. “Indiana’s Team” will return to Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, June 30 at 7:00 p.m., to face off against Penn FC in the first of three back to back matches at home. M – Derrick Jones, Bethlehem Steel FC: Jones scored Steel FC’s opening goal in a 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati and recorded three tackles, three interceptions and won 11 of 15 duels over the contest.
M – Emmanuel Ledesma, FC Cincinnati: Ledesma scored a pair of goals to lead Cincinnati to a 4-0 victory against the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night at Nippert Stadium.
M – Jordan Burt, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: Burt scored twice in four minutes to turn the Switchbacks’ clash with Portland the way of the visitors in a 4-1 win at Merlo Field.
F – Jaime Siaj, OKC Energy FC: Siaj scored a goal in each game, as Energy FC took victories against the Portland Timbers 2 and Rio Grande Valley FC for its first back-to-back wins this season.
