Midfielder’s Goal & Assist Spurred Eleven to First Home Win of 2022
TAMPA/INDIANAPOLIS (Tuesday, April 19, 2022) – Indy Eleven midfielder Nicky Law was among the honorees named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 6 of the 2022 regular season this afternoon.
The nod was Law’s second weekly honor from the league since joining Indiana’s Team last year, going with his placement in Week 17 of the 2021 campaign. It was also the second Team of the Week award for a member of the Boys in Blue in 2022, following on the heels of goalkeeper Elliot Panicco’s Week 3 honor.
Law garnered the accolade following a standout performance last Saturday against Atlanta United 2, during which he started the scoring in the 12th minute with a sublime free kick before supplying the game-winning assist on forward Aris Briggs’ dramatic 92nd minute finish that sealed Indy Eleven’s first home win of 2022. The result marked the Eleven’s second consecutive win and moved the squad’s undefeated streak to four games.
The Plymouth, England native’s 13 chances created are currently tied for the eighth-most across the 27-team USL Championship through six weeks of action. Law’s late-game helper also made him the first player with multiple assists on Indiana’s Team this season.
The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship. Continue below to see the full Week 6 Team of the Week contingent.
