Pair of Boys in Blue earn bench “honorable mentions” after helping Indy defeat Championship’s top side
The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 25 of the 2022 regular season on Tuesday, with the 18-man list including a pair of Boys in Blue – goalkeeper Tim Trilk and defender Robby Dambrot – included on the team’s “honorable mention” bench following their performances in the Eleven’s 1-0 win over San Antonio FC on Saturday night.
Dambrot claimed the lone goal for Indiana’s Team in the win over the USL Championship’s top side, producing a sparkling individual effort in the 40th minute which started when he put in a hearty slide tackle to win a 50-50 challenge on Juan Tejada’s ball up the left channel. From there, Dambrot danced into the six and cut back past another defender before deftly chipping past a third defender and goalkeeper Jordan Farr inside the far post, the breathtaking play catching SAFC off guard and putting Indy up front. Dambrot was effective throughout on both ends of the pitch, ending the match with three tackles, two interceptions, two clearances and having won four of his seven duels entered.
Trilk continued his strong play between the posts Saturday against one of the Championship’s most well-balanced attacking sides, making six saves on the evening to collect his first clean sheet for Indiana’s Team in eight starts. In those starting appearances, the third-year pro has allowed an impressive 1.00 goals against average to help keep his squad in every contest, including seven straight starts allowing one goal or fewer. When counting all nine appearances during his first season with the Eleven, Trilk has notched a 1.39 GAA and 72.7 save percentage.
The Week 25 placements mark the first for both players in their burgeoning USL Championship careers, and make them the eighth and ninth Indy Eleven players to earn a spot on the weekly “best of” team in 2022. Members of the Boys in Blue have now been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week on 11 occasions this season, which included a Player of the Week honor bestowed to Manuel Arteaga in June.
