Carmel Native Returns to Boys in Blue on the Heels of His 2022 USL Championship All-League Second Team Performance
Indy Eleven has made a familiar face its first new acquisition of the offseason, as Indiana’s Team today made official the return of midfielder Cam Lindley via a transfer deal with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Terms of the transfer deal that brings the Carmel native and member of the 2020 Eleven roster back to the Boys in Blue will not be released, and the acquisition will be finalized pending league and federation approval.
“I am so happy to be coming home again to play for this amazing club. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and push this project forward and compete for the championship,” said Lindley, a product of Guerin Catholic High School and the Indiana Fire Juniors Academy program. “My wife and I were blessed to be raised in Indy, and I’m elated that we will be able to start a family back in our hometown. A big thank you goes to everyone at the organization who made this possible.”
Lindley earned his first USL Championship All-League honor as a member of the Switchbacks with a Second Team nod following the 2022 campaign, when his league-leading 94 chances created resulted in nine assists (tied for sixth leaguewide) and an 80 percent pass completion rate. He also recorded 205 recoveries and 36 interceptions in a solid all-around fourth full USLC campaign that ended with Colorado Springs’ first appearance in the Western Conference Final in eight seasons.
“Cam Lindley has developed into one of the Championship’s most complete midfielders since the last time our fans saw him in an Indy uniform,” said Indy Eleven Head Coach Mark Lowry. “His creativity, passing ability, leadership, and intensity are traits that translate wherever he lines up in midfield and will be crucial to our style of play being successful. We’re thrilled to have Cam back where he belongs and look forward to announcing more key pieces alongside him for 2023.”
Starting with a singular appearance for Saint Louis FC in 2018 while on loan from Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC, the 25-year-old Lindley has racked up 18 assists and three goals in 103 USL Championship matches for Memphis FC (2019), Indy Eleven (2020), San Antonio FC (2021), and Colorado Springs (2022). In the COVID-shortened 2020 season with Indiana’s Team, Lindley appeared in 12 of the squad’s 16 contests, including nine starting nods. Lindley also made three MLS appearances for Orlando to start his 2018 rookie campaign, which followed two standout seasons at NCAA powerhouse North Carolina in 2016-17.
Prior to college, Lindley was a standout for Guerin Catholic High School (2016 graduate) and numerous Indiana Fire Juniors squads. His youth experience also included registering nearly 30 appearances with U.S. Youth National Teams starting at the Under-17 level, including two “caps” for the U.S. Under-23’s in 2019.
