INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, July 21, 2023) – Ahead of tomorrow’s USL W League Final between Indy Eleven and NC Courage U23, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett has officially signed a proclamation making July 21, 2023 “Girls in Blue Day” in Indianapolis.
In only their second season of competition, the Indy Eleven women have proved to be one of the most successful clubs in the USL’s W League, setting themselves up for an opportunity to bring home a championship to Indianapolis Saturday.
“We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our Indy Eleven women’s team,” Greg Stremlaw, Indy Eleven President and Chief Executive Officer said. “The excitement surrounding their success this season, and the opportunity to host the USL W League Final, is something we want to share with the entire city of Indianapolis. We are appreciative of the support from Mayor Hogsett and invite the entire city to join us in celebrating the Girls in Blue and our drive to win a national championship.”
After an undefeated regular season and USL W League playoff berth in its inaugural season and winning the Great Lakes division title, the Indy Eleven women finished the 2023 regular season Valley Division Champions at 8-1-1 and went on to win the Central Conference Championship. They will host the USL W League Final this Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of an Indy Eleven doubleheader at Carroll Stadium. Indy Eleven and its fans will join together to attempt to break Indiana’s all-time attendance record for a women’s match, set by Team USA in 1996, in an effort to help grow the women’s game in Indiana.
