Boudadi picks up bench selection
TAMPA/INDIANAPOLIS (Tuesday, August 29, 2023) – Following a 2-1 win over Loudoun United FC and a 0-0 draw at Memphis last week, Indy Eleven’s Aodhan Quinn was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week and Younes Boudadi earned a bench selection, league officials announced Tuesday.
The Boys in Blue are on a five-match unbeaten streak that also includes wins over Birmingham, Miami and El Paso. Indy currently sits sixth in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference at 10-9-8.
Aodhan Quinn | MF | San Diego, California
Quinn scored the equalizer with his USL Championship-leading 25th penalty kick of his career on Saturday. The midfielder is now seven-for-seven from the spot in 2023 and has a team-best nine goals. Over the two matches, Quinn completed nearly 84% of his passes, won eight duels, had four shots and created five chances.
Quinn has appeared in 250 USLC regular season matches, good for sixth all-time, and continues to lead the league with 20,816 regular-season minutes played.
This is the fourth USLC honor of 2023 for Quinn, who was named to the team of the week following weeks 13 and 17. He was also a goal of the week nominee following week 21.
Younes Boudadi | DF | Ypres, Belgium
In 180 minutes of action last week, Boudadi helped anchor a backline that earned one clean sheet and allowed just one goal in two matches. The defender won 10 duels and registered two tackles, three clearances, two interceptions and a blocked shot.
The bench selection is the third USLC honor for Boudadi. He was selected to the week nine team of the week and the week 23 bench.
