TAMPA, Fla. - The USL W League is gearing up for another exciting season of elite pre-professional soccer. The 2024 W League season will feature 80 teams across nine divisions.
During the offseason, the W League has established two new divisions: the Mountain Division and Lone Star Division. Both will have five clubs competing in 2024.
The recently-announced Tacoma Galaxy will join the Northwest Division, while the all-new Michiana Lions will join the Great Lakes Division. The Heartland Division will feature new club River Light FC and the South Central Division have added Athens United. The Southeast Division will have three new teams joining their division: Brevard Riptide, TLH Reckoning, and Brooke House FC.
Each team will play either 10 or 12 matches against divisional opponents over the course of the regular season. Upon the start of playoffs, conferences will be used to regionalize match ups with player welfare in mind. More information of the W League playoffs will be released prior to season kickoff.
“We are thrilled that the W League is in more communities than ever before,” said Amanda Vandervort, USL Super League and W League President. “The league is a crucial step along the USL women’s pathway. The growth of the W League this offseason showcases the USL’s continued commitment to creating more opportunities for women to play, coach and work in the game across the country.”
The W League will release its full 2024 season schedule on Thursday, February 15.
