CHICAGO (Thursday, May 9, 2024) – Following a 2-0 victory over San Antonio FC on Wednesday evening, Indy Eleven will host USL Championship conference-mate Detroit City FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16. The match is slated for Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at Carroll Stadium.
The all-time series against Detroit City is locked at 2-2-1, with all five meetings coming in USL Championship action. The teams have already faced each other as part of league play in 2024, a 2-1 win for Detroit. The Round of 16 pairing between Indy and Detroit is the only intra-league contest slated for the round.
Indy Eleven advanced to the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 for the first time since its inaugural appearance in 2014 and improved to 6-7-1 all-time in those matches. When hosting, the Boys in Blue are 5-2-0.
Augi Williams and Jack Blake scored goals in the second and 10th minutes, respectively, while Hunter Sulte registered six saves to secure the shutout and the victory.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is U.S. Soccer’s Club Championship and has crowned a champion annually since 1914 (with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19). The historic tournament is conducted on a single-game, knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer and is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States and the world’s third-longest continuously run national cup tournament.
