SERIES
Saturday marks the 10th meeting all-time between the sides, with Indy leading the series 5-2-2.
The Boys in Blue recorded a 4-1 victory over Hartford at Carroll Stadium on May 18. Midfielder Jack Blake converted a penalty in the third minute to put his team on top. Defender Ben Ofeimu scored in stoppage time in the first half to give Indy a 2-0 edge at the break. Forward Douglas Martinez made it 3-0 in the 54th minute on an assist by Aedan Stanley, before forward Augi Williams scored four minutes later to make it 4-0.

LAST TIME AT HARTFORD
Indy Eleven and Hartford Athletic fought to a scoreless draw in cool and rainy conditions on September 7.
The Boys in Blue had their best scoring chance in the first half in the 38th minute when midfielder Brem Soumaoro set up forward Maalique Foster for a run into the center of the box, but his shot was stopped by an impressive kick save by Hartford keeper Renan Ribeiro. Foster played the full 90 for the second straight match, tying for the team lead inchances created (2) and completed passes in the final third (11). Soumaoro, signed four days earlier, started and had five recoveries and 27 completed passes, playing the full 90.
Indy Eleven outshot Hartford 9-5 in the first half, with two shots on target. Midfielder Jack Blake returned to the lineup after missing the Pittsburgh match and led Indy with four shots, while Foster had two.
Defender Aedan Stanley made a nice sliding tackle just outside the area in the 78th minute to help preserve the shutout. Stanley led the Boys in Blue with five crosses attempted and he was second on the team in completed passes (32), recoveries (6), and tackles won (2).
Defender Ben Ofeimu continued his fine play with two tackles won and a shot.
Indy goalie Hunter Sulte recorded his sixth clean sheet of the season, making one save.

FOSTER REPEATS ON USLC “TEAM OF THE WEEK”
Boys in Blue forward Maalique Foster has been named to the USL Championship “Team of the Week” for the second consecutive week after his performance Saturday vs. North Carolina FC.
In the 48th minute, Foster showed his speed to catch up to a long ball from just outside his own area from defender Pat Hogan, reaching it just prior to it reaching the endline and centering it to forward Edward Kizza, who buried it with a one-touch finish for his first goal for Boys in Blue. In the match, Foster led Indy Eleven in chances created (3), crosses attempted (6), and successful dribbles (2), and he was tied for third in shots (2).
On the season, Foster has a goal and an assist, he leads Indy Eleven in chances created (8), and he is third in fouls won (6) while playing 339 minutes and starting all four matches. The Portmore, Jamaica, native is tied for eighth in the USLC in chances created and tied for 14th in assists.
This marks the third time that the 28-year-old Foster has earned “Team of the Week” recognition as a member of the Boys in Blue, as he received that status last week after scoring a goal and after scoring his first Indy Eleven goal vs. El Paso Locomotive in Week 28 last season.
This is the fourth consecutive week that Indy Eleven is represented on the USL Championship “Team of the Week”, with Jack Blake and Pat Hogan in Week 2, Bruno Rendon in Week 3, and Foster in Weeks 4 and 5.
BLAKE & HOGAN LEAGUE LEADERS
Midfielder Jack Blake and defender Pat Hogan lead the USLC in stat categories despite the Boys in Blue having a bye the opening week of the season.
Blake has recorded a league-high 12 shots in four matches, registering a goal and an assist. The Nottingham, England, native also leads Indy Eleven in shots on target (7), fouls won (11), and duels won (24), and he is tied for third on the team in aerial duels won (6). The 30-year-old Blake ranks second in the USLC in shots on target and tied for 10th in fouls won.
Hogan is tied for first in the USLC in clearances with 40 in four matches. The Charlotte-area native also leads the team in blocks (3) and aerial duels won (17), he is second in interceptions (4) and duels won (22), and he scored a goal in the season opener at Miami FC. The 27-year-old Hogan is tied for eighth in the USLC in aerial duels won.
MURPH 10K
Midfielder James Murphy is one of five Indy Eleven players to have been on the pitch for all 360 minutes this season, joining Pat Hogan, James Musa, Aedan Stanley, and Hunter Sulte.
The 27-year-old Murphy became the sixth player on the current Boys in Blue roster to reach the 10,000-minute mark in USLC play on Saturday.
Murphy is tied for sixth in the USLC in interceptions (7) and he is third on the team in tackles won (5).
The Scotch Plains, New Jersey, native is in his seventh season in the league after beginning his career at Sheffield Wednesday in England.

LAST TIME OUT
USL Championship Eastern Conference rivals Indy Eleven and North Carolina FC battled the rain and each other, playing a 2-2 draw at Carroll Stadium.
The Boys in Blue (1-1-2) started quickly with midfielder Oliver Brynéus getting a scoring chance off a pass from midfielder James Murphy in the third minute.
Indy Eleven took the lead in the 26th minute when defender Aedan Stanley’s corner kick from the right side was inadvertently headed in as an own goal by Raheem Somersall.
The Boys in Blue’s five first-half goals in four matches is the most in the USL Championship.
Brynéus earned another chance in the 39th minute on a breakaway, but his shot on target was saved by Jake McGuire.
Indy Eleven had an additional opportunity to add to their 1-0 lead in the second minute of first half stoppage time when Brynéus’ cross to forward Edward Kizza just missed wide. That duo opened the second half with another Brynéus’ cross to Kizza in the 46th minute that just missed.
Two minutes later, the Boys in Blue took a 2-0 edge when defender Pat Hogan played a long ball from just outside his own area deep down the right side. Forward Maalique Foster showed his speed to catch up to it just prior to it reaching the endline and center it to Kizza, who buried it with a one-touch finish for his first goal for Indy Eleven.
North Carolina countered three minutes later in the 51st when Evan Conway cut the deficit in half.
The Boys in Blue had a chance to add an insurance goal in the 89th minute when defender Logan Neidlinger played a cross to midfielder Jack Blake, whose left-footed shot from the right side was saved.
In the third minute of second-half stoppage time, North Carolina tied it on a header by Conor Donovan off a free kick from Mikey Maldonado.

COACH SEAN McAULEY
Head coach Sean McAuley earned the USLC “Coach of the Month” last May and he was a nominee for USLC Midseason “Coach of the Year” after leading his team to a 12-match unbeaten streak in a two-month span from April 17 through June 15.
The Sheffield, England, native led Indy Eleven to the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals with four straight wins, including a 2-1 victory at MLS-side Atlanta United.
McAuley is in his second season in Indy after previously serving as interim head coach/assistant at MLS-side Minnesota United FC. McAuley helped Minnesota to playoff appearances in his first three seasons, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2020.
In 2015, he hoisted the MLS Cup with the Portland Timbers. McAuley began his playing career with Manchester United and played for Portland Timbers and the Scottish U-21 National Team.
