(Westfield) Indy Eleven opened its 2025 USL W League campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over Lexington SC in a match that started Friday evening and finished Saturday morning at the Grand Park Events Center indoors in Westfield. The two teams played the first 3:38 of the game on Friday evening before storms created a power outage of more than four hours. Play resumed on Saturday morning at 8:30.
In the eighth minute, captain Grace Bahr nailed a free kick from just outside the area to put the Girls in Blue on top 1-0. Bahr and fellow center back Kris Molloy anchored the back line with defenders Teagon Albert, Sophia White, Blair Satterfield, and Kate Malin on the outside.
Goalkeeper Emily Edwards made 10 saves to record a clean sheet, including a game-saver according to Coach Brandon Kim. Kim earned a victory in his Indy Eleven head coaching debut after three seasons as an assistant that included the 2023 W League championship.
Substitutes Maddy (Williams) Osswald, Talyn Guthrie, and Elise May ignited the Girls in Blue attack in the second half. Osswald sealed the victory with an insurance goal off an assist from Guthrie in the 90th minute. It was an impressive return to the pitch for Osswald as she missed the entire 2024 season.
May and midfielder Asa Yamazaki paced the offense with three shots apiece.
The Girls in Blue will play their first road game of the 2025 season at Dayton Dutch Lions FC on Wed. May 21 at 7 pm.
Indy Eleven’s next W League home match is Saturday, May 31 vs. Kings Hammer FC Cincinnati at 7 pm at Grand Park Events Center. Single-game tickets for all matches can be purchased here.
