Toledo, Ohio – Indy Eleven moved into first place in the USL W League Valley Division with a 3-1 road victory at Toledo Villa FC on Saturday afternoon.
Midfielder Emma Johnson opened the scoring in the 27th minute off an assist from midfielder Oliva Smith. Johnson took a feed from Smith outside the area and made two nifty moves to her right to create space for her first goal of the season.
Eight minutes later, forward Nicky Jodoin recorded her first Girls in Blue assist by cutting a pass from wide on the left side that forward Talyn Guthrie buried from just outside the six for the finish.
Indy Eleven extended its lead to 3-1 in the 85th minute when midfielder Maiko Kikuchi made an immediate impact in her Girls in Blue debut by cutting a pass back from the left side to forward Reese Sochacki inside the corner of the six. Sochacki struck a left-footed shot to the far corner of the net for her team-high second goal of the season.
The Girls in Blue travel to Dayton to face the Dutch Lions on Sunday May 24 at 3 p.m. on Sports Engine Play.
