Pike H.S. Alum, Former Carmel United & Indiana Fire Academy Standout Joins Indiana’s Team
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s Team added another native son to its 2022 roster with today’s signing of Indianapolis’ own Justin Ingram. Per club policy, terms of the contract that brings skillful attacking midfielder and former youth national team performer back to the Hoosier State will not be released, pending league and federation approval.
Ingram will suit up for his rookie professional season with the Boys in Blue in 2022 after spending five collegiate seasons across the Loyola University Maryland and University of Virginia programs. Ingram’s success collegiately saw him selected by Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft on January 11.
“I am super excited to be coming back home and joining Indy Eleven.” said the 23-year-old Ingram, a graduate of Pike High School. “I am looking forward to getting out there and playing for the club, my teammates, and the amazing fans within the 317.”
During his three seasons at Loyola-Maryland from 2019-21 Ingram tallied 13 goals and 18 assists in 44 appearances while asserting himself as one of the Patriot League’s top performers. Following both the COVID-shortened Spring 2021 season (three goals, three assists) and full Fall 2021 (seven goals, 10 assists) campaigns, Ingram earned the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year award as well as United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Atlantic Region, All-Patriot League First Team, and Patriot League All-Tournament Team honors. During his final season as a graduate student last fall, Ingram helped Loyola-MD to their first Patriot League Championship, which in turn saw the Greyhounds secure their first trip to the NCAA Men’s College Cup postseason tournament since 2009.
“In Justin Ingram we get a player with local ties and a proven track record of winning wherever he’s played, making him a perfect fit for the culture we are building,” said Indy Eleven Head Coach Mark Lowry. “While his attacking prowess is evident, his tireless work rate and effort in defending makes him a complete midfielder that can contribute to our system of play right away.”
Ingram grew up in the Indy area playing club soccer locally for Carmel United – where he won three Indiana Soccer State Championships – and the Indiana Fire Academy, where he played under current Indy Eleven Sporting Director, Academy Operations & W League Phil Presser. Ingram also has experience with the U.S. Youth National Team set-up, having played for the Boys U-15 National Team and the U-19 Men’s National Team.
Additional roster announcements will continue to be made during Indy Eleven’s ongoing preseason, which leads up to the squad’s 2022 regular season opener at Loudoun United FC on Saturday, March 12 (6:00 p.m. kickoff, live on ESPN+).
