West Carrollton, Ohio – Indy Eleven scored three second-half goals to improve to 2-0 this season with a 3-0 win at Dayton Dutch Lions FC in rainy, windy conditions on Wednesday night.
After generating multiple scoring chances in the first half, the Girls in Blue broke through early in the second. Forward Elise May produced an early opportunity, then followed up with her first Indy Eleven goal in the 49th minute to make it 1-0.
Goalkeeper Emily Edwards posted her second consecutive clean sheet, coming out to smother a ball in the 55th to preserve her team’s edge.
Right after that, defender Mackenzie Kruer recorded her first Girls in Blue goal off an assist from forward Reese Sochacki in the 57th to double the lead.
In the 90th, midfielder Lilly Touhey scored her first Indy Eleven goal with an assist from defender Kate Malin to finish the scoring.
The Girls in Blue are ranked 10th in the May 20 USL W League Power Rankings. They travel to rival Racing Louisville FC on Tuesday, May 27 for a 6 pm match.
Indy Eleven’s next W League home match is Saturday, May 31 vs. Kings Hammer FC Cincinnati at 7 pm at Grand Park Events Center. Single-game tickets for all matches can be purchased here.
