Indy Eleven jumped out to an early lead, but Louisville City FC responded to earn a 3-1 victory at Carroll Stadium.
Just 1:25 into the match, the Boys in Blue scored first. Defender James Musa started the scoring sequence with a long ball to the edge of the area to forward Romario Williams. Williams flicked it to midfielder Jack Blake, who spun and passed it back to captain Aodhan Quinn. Quinn centered it to Williams, who touched it down and around a defender and then finished for his fifth goal this season.
It is the 65th career USLC goal for Williams, moving him into sole possession of 14th place on the league all-time list. For Quinn, it is his team-leading seventh assist this season.
Indy Eleven had an opportunity to add to its lead in the 12th minute when Williams won a ball in the midfield and played it to forward Maalique Foster on the right side. He took it deep and delivered a cross that was cleared by defender Josh Jones.
In the 24th, Quinn played a cross from the left side that Williams headed down, but goalkeeper Danny Faundez made an arm save.
A minute later in the 25th, midfielder Cam Lindley played a long ball into space down the right side to Foster. Foster took a touch to just outside the six and fired just wide.
Foster dribbled inside the area right side to set up Williams in the 33rd for another scoring opportunity.
After Louisville took a 3-1 lead, the Boys in Blue had a good chance to cut the deficit in the 82nd minute when Blake made a steal and fed Quinn, who played a cross to midfielder Bruno Rendon, but his left-footed shot missed high.
In the third minute of second-half stoppage time, Blake made a nice move at the edge of the area to free up space for a left-footed shot that Faundez punched over the bar.
Indy Eleven forward Edward Kizza made his 100th career USL Championship appearance in the match.

Schaefer repeats “Team of the Week”
Defender Brian Schaefer is a repeat selection on the USL Championship “Team of the Week” after helping the Boys in Blue move into a playoff position with a 2-1 victory over Western Conference leader FC Tulsa last Saturday. Schaefer is the third Indy Eleven player to repeat on the TOTW this season, joining Maalique Foster (4/1, 4/8) and Elvis Amoh (4/29, 5/6).
The 6’3 Schaefer scored his first Boys in Blue goal in the eighth minute vs. Tulsa off midfielder James Murphy’s in-swinging free kick from inside the left sideline, heading it into the right corner of the net. In the match, Schaefer tied for a team-best three blocks, adding three aerial duels won, and three recoveries.
Schaefer earned his first TOTW selection last week after recording his first career assist in a 2-1 home win over Birmingham Legion FC on September 21. In that match, Schaefer started the game-tying goal sequence from midfield with a long ball to the edge of the area off a free kick in the 54th minute. Six minutes later, he went high for a header to flick it to Ben Ofeimu, who volleyed it home for the game winner. Schaefer won all 10 of his duels and he recorded 10 clearances, a team-best seven recoveries, three of four tackles, and two interceptions.
It has been an impressive first month with Indy Eleven for the 23-year-old Schaefer. The Atlantic Beach, Florida, native was loaned from FC Cincinnati 2 to the Boys in Blue on September 3. He made his USL Championship debut that night at Hartford Athletic, helping his new team to a 2-0 road win with two aerial duels and a tackle.
The 2024 MLS SuperDraft first-round pick was inserted into the Indy Eleven starting lineup on September 6 at Charleston Battery and he has started the past four matches, helping the Boys in Blue hold opponents to 1.0 goals per game in five outings in September.
Blake Franchise USLC Goals Leader
Midfielder Jack Blake scored his USL Championship era (2018-) franchise record 25th Boys in Blue goal for the game-winner in a huge 2-1 victory over Western Conference leader FC Tulsa at Carroll Stadium on Saturday. The win moved Indy Eleven into a playoff position one point ahead of Rhode Island FC with four games left in the regular season.
Midfielder Cam Lindley started the scoring sequence for Blake’s goal with a long ball down the right sideline for Bruno Rendon. Rendon fought off two players outside the area and backheeled it back to Lindley, who played a one-touch bender to captain Aodhan Quinn on the left side of the area. Quinn played a quick pass inside the six to Blake who finished it with his left foot to give the Boys in Blue a 2-0 lead in the 68th minute.
It is Blake’s team-leading 10th goal this season matching his 2024 total. The Nottingham, England, native has scored 42 goals in his USLC career, becoming the 19th player in league history to record at least 40 goals and 25 assists in regular-season play.
Quinn’s assist is his team-high ninth of the campaign and the 59th in his USLC career, moving him into sole possession of second place on the league all-time list ahead of former teammate Solomon Asante.
Indy Eleven took an early lead in the eighth minute when midfielder James Murphy played an in-swinging ball on a free kick inside the left sideline that defender Brian Schaefer headed into the right corner of the net. It is Murphy’s third assist this season, with all of them coming in the last two months.
Goalkeeper Luke Pruter earned his second home victory of the week with two saves. Defenders Joey Zalinsky and Schaefer combined for three blocks on one sequence in the 21st minute to maintain the 1-0 lead. Both Zalinsky and Schaefer finished with a team-high three blocks in the match.
