Rendon earns “Team of the Week” for the Second Time
Indy Eleven forward Bruno Rendon was selected to the USL Championship “Team of the Week” after helping the Boys in Blue stay in the playoff race with his first career brace in a 2-1 victory over Loudoun United FC on Saturday at Carroll Stadium.
Captain Aodhan Quinn set up Rendon’s first goal in the 11th minute with a long ball over the top. Rendon chipped it over keeper Ryan Jack on his first touch from 30 yards out to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Midfielder Cam Lindley set up Rendon’s second goal in the 54th minute with a pass from the center circle in between two defenders into the left corner of the area. Rendon applied pressure and got the ball off a deflection, took one touch, and buried it into the top right corner to give his team a 2-0 edge.
The 25-year-old Rendon recorded three shots in the game while winning 2-2 tackles and 3-4 ground duels.
On the season, Rendon is second on the Boys in Blue in aerial duels won (58), third in duels won (132) and tackles won (29), tied for fourth in goals (3) and fouls won (27), fifth in shots (22), sixth in chances created (14) and games started (20), sixth among field players in minutes played (1,727), and tied for seventh in games played (25).
It marks the second time this season that Rendon has earned “Team of the Week” honors. He also earned it in Week 3 after scoring his first Boys in Blue goal at Lexington SC on March 22.
The Matanzas, Cuba, native is in his first season with Indy Eleven after earning USL League One “Defender of the Year” in 2024 for Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC under Coach Eamon Zayed, the Indy Eleven franchise scoring leader. Rendon helped Northern Colorado to its best-ever season and the inaugural USL Jägermeister Cup championship, scoring nine goals in Cup play.
Ten Indy Eleven players have earned USLC “Team of the Week” honors this season.
Boys in Blue Stay in Playoff Race with Must Win
Indy Eleven stayed in the USLC Eastern Conference playoff race with a critical 2-1 home victory over Loudoun United FC on Fan Appreciation Night last Saturday.
Bruno Rendon led the Indy Eleven attack with his first career brace at the USLC level. Captain Aodhan Quinn set up Rendon’s first goal in the 11th minute with a long ball over the top. Rendon chipped the pass over goalkeeper Ryan Jack on his first touch outside the area to give his team the 1-0 lead.
Quinn became the second player in USLC history to record 60 career assists, joining all-time leader Kenardo Forbes (66). It is Quinn’s 10th assist this season–a new franchise record.
The previous mark for assists in a season for all games was nine by Aedan Stanley in 2024 and Solomon Asante in 2023. For USLC games only, the standard had been eight by Cam Lindley in 2023 and Ayoze in 2018. Quinn & Asante are tied for second with 12 career assists for the Boys in Blue, trailing only Ayoze’s 22.
That total of 10 assists is tied for the lead for the USLC Golden Playmaker Award with Hope Avayevu of Phoenix Rising FC and Juan David Torres of Charleston Battery with one game remaining.
Quinn became the first player in USLC history to record 10 assists in the regular season three times.
Midfielder Cam Lindley set up Rendon’s second goal in the 54th minute with a pass from the center circle in between two defenders into the left corner of the area. Rendon applied pressure and got the ball off a deflection, took one touch, and buried it into the top right corner to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Goalkeeper Hunter Sulte made five saves to increase his season total to 68 and his two-year career total to a franchise USLC era-best 141. Sulte’s stop on a free kick by Omari Glasgow in the 91st minute is a nominee for the “Save of the Week”. The 6’7 Sulte has the “Save of the Week” twice this season in addition to a Jägermeister Cup “Save of the Round”. He also tops the team USLC era (2018-) list in clean sheets with 13.

COACH SEAN McAULEY
Head coach Sean McAuley earned the USLC “Coach of the Month” last May and he was a nominee for USLC Midseason “Coach of the Year” after leading his team to a 12-match unbeaten streak in a two-month span from April 17 through June 15.
The Sheffield, England, native led Indy Eleven to the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals with four straight wins, including a 2-1 victory at MLS-side Atlanta United.
McAuley is in his second season in Indy after previously serving as interim head coach/assistant at MLS-side Minnesota United FC. McAuley helped Minnesota to playoff appearances in his first three seasons, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2020.
In 2015, he hoisted the MLS Cup with the Portland Timbers. McAuley began his playing career with Manchester United and played for Portland Timbers and the Scottish U-21 National Team.
