INDIANAPOLIS (September 2, 2017) – Indy Eleven dropped their third home contest of the Fall Season as Pablo Dyego’s brace secured three points for the visiting San Francisco Deltas.

Welcome back defender Cory Miller for the first time since October 2016, “Indiana’s Team” allowed the Deltas to possess in the early moments of the first half as they repelled everything the visitors booted their way. Despite giving San Francisco room to maneuver, it was Indy who created the first opportunity of the game 13 minutes in. Off a slick one-two between forward David Goldsmith and midfielder Tanner Thompson, the latter dragged a rolled ball back for Ben Speas only to see the attacker’s shot ricochet off his teammate Zayed and just over the bar.

San Francisco continued to maintain possession and work the ball around the midfield, creating their first chance just a few minutes later. Racing down the right flank, Deltas winger Jackson lifted a ball over the entire defense to his teammate Devon Sandoval at the back post. In striking the ball on the first time asking, Sandoval missed a nearly wide-open net as the chance went begging. Just two minutes later, Jackson looked to make an impact by himself as a struck a ball with the outside of his right boot that rifled off the crossbar and back into play where Indy Eleven goalkeeper Jon Busch was waiting with open arms.

The “Boys in Blue” would work another beautiful chance through Goldsmith, again towards Zayed, but the Deltas would strike first in the 42ndminute. Working on the right side of the attack, Michael Stephens got to the endline and put in an uncontested cross that forward Pablo Dyego made no mistake with, heading home the point-blank look to make it 1-0.

San Francisco would take their advantage into the halftime break, with “Buschy” making three saves.

The second half saw Indy produce a couple of quality looks in front of goal, the best for Zayed in the 76th minute that forced a solid save from Peiser, but San Francisco would ultimately double their lead as Indy pressed for a late equalizer. In the 87th minute, Dyego took Eleven defender Colin Falvey one-on-one to the byline and produced a deft chip past Busch at his near post to end Indy’s hopes of a comeback.

“The first half was not a good half for us. We didn’t show the maturity to possess and keep the ball, so we were forcing everything off the first move. It put us on our heels defending against the counter,” said Hankinson. “At halftime, there was a calm message – win or lose, let’s possess the ball and we’ll have a better chance to create. It was a better second half. Now we’ll wait and see who comes out of this with problems and take things one day at a time.”

Indy Eleven travels to face the Jacksonville Armada FC on Saturday, September 9 at 7:30 P.M. ET, but returns home to IUPUI’s Michael A. Carroll Stadium to host North Carolina FC on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 P.M. ET. INDIANAPOLIS (August 26, 2017) – Indy Eleven fell to the Jacksonville Armada FC after clawing their way back from a 3-0 deficit to nearly secure a point at home.

Opening up the match with defender Nemanja Vukovic (ankle) and forward Justin Braun (ankle) in the starting XI, Indy deployed a never-before-seen combination of personnel that saw Eamon Zayed lead the line with David Goldsmith. The first of a few chances came Indy’s way in the 13th minute when Goldsmith found his strike partner Zayed in the box. The Irishman took the pass and hit an effort on the one-time only for Armada FC ‘keeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell to equal the effort and see the follow-up fly over the bar.

Though Zayed and Goldsmith played well off each other, Jacksonville took the lead just before the half hour mark as midfielder Jack Blake headed home a cross from defender Bryam Rebellon. As the Indy defense was tested by bursts of the Armada FC attack, the visitors won a pair of free kicks in advantageous positions. In the 40th minute, Jacksonville’s Blake made Indy pay for one of those opportunities, burying a close-range effort that goalkeeper Jon Busch had no chance at.

Indy Eleven went into the half trailing Jacksonville, 2-0.

Pressure mounted on Indy’s goal throughout the second half with “Buschy” producing a pair of key saves to keep the deficit at two. However, gifting another free kick to Armada FC, it was again the midfielder Blake who found his way on the scoresheet, scoring a second free kick from similar range to go three-up.

Indy’s momentum would not die, though, and just four minutes later the “Boys in Blue” got on the board through midfielder Ben Speas. Substitute forward Justin Braun was almost an instant impact for his side, rolling a pass through to Speas who made no mistake beating Patterson-Sewell from point-blank range.

The tide took a slight turn in the 75th minute, though, when the forward Braun went to ground with an injury and had to be stretchered off, leaving Indy to finish the match with ten men after using all three of their substitutes. Heading into stoppage time, Ben Speas made things happen once again, this time whipping in an early cross for the forward Goldsmith to latch onto. The Butler product stretched to meet the cross and beat the ‘keeper, leaving a little time for Indy to claw back. However, Jacksonville would see the match through and take three points from Carroll Stadium.

INDIANAPOLIS (August 19, 2017) – Indy Eleven midfielder and former Mexican National Team star Gerardo Torrado tallies his first two goals for “Indiana’s Team” in Indy’s 3-3 thriller at MCU Park.

The “Boys in White” hit the ground running early in the first half after Torrardo netted his first goal as a member of the “Boys in Blue” in the 10th minute. After earning a corner kick, midfielder Don Smart sent a charged pass from the corner flag towards Torrado at top left of the Cosmos’ 18-yard box. After a few quick touches, Torrado slammed the ball from the top left corner of the box into the upper right corner of the goal, collecting his first goal since joining Indy last June.

Minutes later, Torrado found another opportunity as the Cruz Azul legend slotted in his second goal for the night. In the 14th minute, Eleven forward David Goldsmith charged into the right side of the Cosmos’ box unopposed. From there, Goldsmith sent the ball to forward Eamon Zayed in the center of the box to avoid an oncoming Cosmos defender. With a heavy touch, Zayed retained possession before passing towards the top of the box as multiple Cosmos defenders closed in. With the ball unattended, Torrado seized the moment once more, driving the ball center and into the back of the net.

It wasn’t long before New York came looking for answers. In the 18th minute, the Cosmos nearly capitalized on the first of their chances after a right footed strike from midfielder Andres Flores struck the woodwork just to the left of Indy Eleven goalkeeper Jon Busch. Flores came knocking again two minutes later after receiving a pass from midfielder Eric Calvillo. Following the pass, Flores sent in a left footed effort, but it was easily collected by Busch and possession was returned to Indy once more.

However, New York found their first of the evening midway into the first half. In the 29th minute, after being award a free kick, midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma sent service short to midfielder Javi Marquez at the top of Indy’s box. With a lofted pass, Marquez found Flores running along the left edge of the box. Following the pass, Flores gained control with his first touch before he lofted the ball to the right post, where defender Dejan Jakovic’s head sent the ball into the goal.

At the half, Indy remained in the lead after strong defensive efforts quelled the Cosmos’ continuous attacking pressure.  

The Cosmos came out of the gate swinging early in the second half, where the defending 2016 NASL Champions found their first equalizer just five minutes after the match restarted. In the 50th minute, a strike from distance hurdled towards the top of Indy’s goal. Acting quickly, Busch leapt to the upper left corner of the goal in an attempt to save, only to have the ball deflect downwards off of the crossbar. While Busch was scrambling to recover, Cosmos striker Pablo Vranjican surged forward and headed the ball past the veteran goaltender.

Wasting no time, Indy looked to retaliate quickly. In the 53rd minute, Zayed found the back of the net, elevating Indy back into the lead. Zayed’s goal came after a masterclass through ball from Goldsmith at centerfield. The Irishman stopped the pass before fancy footwork put down the opposing defender standing between Zayed and the goal. As Cosmos goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer came off his line to try and collect the ball, Zayed rocketed the ball above and beyond the former NASL Golden Glove recipient, scoring Indy’s third for the evening.

As the match wore on, both sides continued their pursuit for additional goals. And in the 84th minute, New York found their second equalizer. After being awarded a corner kick, Ledesma directed a cross into the center of Indy’s 18-yard box. From the penalty spot, Cosmos substitute midfielder Juan Guerra headed the ball to the upper left corner of the goal. Despite getting a glove on it, Busch’s effort wasn’t enough to keep the ball from meeting the back of the net.

Despite late-game injury drama that saw the match into the 100th minute, neither side could capitalize on opportunities created in the additional time. With the score level at the whistle, both sides walked away with a draw and a point for the record books.

After being awarded a corner kick, Ledesma directed a cross into the center of Indy’s 18-yard box. From the penalty spot, Cosmos substitute midfielder Juan Guerra headed the ball to the upper left corner of the goal. Despite getting a glove on it, Busch’s effort wasn’t enough to keep the ball from meeting the back of the net.

Despite late-game injury drama that saw the match into the 100th minute, neither side could capitalize on opportunities created in the additional time. With the score level at the whistle, both sides walked away with a draw and a point for the record books.

INDIANAPOLIS (August 12, 2017) – On goalkeeper Jon Busch’s 500th appearance in all competitions, Indy Eleven fell 3-0 to the Spring Season champs Miami FC in their third game of the Fall Season.

An exciting first half that featured “Buschy” making three important saves, it was “Indiana’s Team” that created the first chance of the night. Earning a corner, midfielder Don Smart jogged over to take and swung in a fantastic ball to the dead middle of the six-yard box. Defender Colin Falvey was first to meet the cross, but his header went flying over the bar. The first save of the night for Busch came just minutes later when Stefano Pinho was in perfect position to direct a header on goal only to see the veteran leap towards the top corner and collect with both hands.

As the half wore on, defender Nemanja Vukovic found himself set up perfectly with a free kick just outside the box and looked to replicate his curling free kick goal against FC Edmonton last week. Instead, “Vuko” rifled one around the wall and towards Miami FC ‘keeper Daniel Vega’s far post only to see the effort scale inches wide of goal. Three minutes later, Miami FC had their best opportunity of the first half through the attacker Poku. Sprinting down the right side, the former New York City FC man slid a ball into the middle of the area for his teammate Jamie Chavez but found the pass just behind the forward and Indy was able to clear.

At the half, Indy held strong and though unable to capitalize on chances in the box still kept their shape defensively and the deadlock continued.

A completely different second 45 minutes began quickly for the hosts as Miami FC got themselves on the board after just five minutes. With Jamie Chavez streaking down the flank, the forward got a cross away for Stefano Pinho to get on the end of and his point-blank header on the break beat Busch for the first of the evening.

However, Indy would come close to an equalizer just two minutes later as forward David Goldsmith was able to create an opportunity for himself. Twisting his way through the Miami defense, the Butler product saw the ball roll into his path only for a heavy effort to be nailed right down the pipe at Vega. The hosts continued to flash their attack as Indy sought their first of the match, and midfielder Dylan Mares was able to capitalize on an opportunity right at the hour mark. Similar to Goldsmith’s run moments earlier, Mares weaved his way through the defense before hitting a bullet at goal from just outside the box that Busch had no shot at.

Despite the two-goal deficit, again the “Boys in White” threatened in attack. Midfielder Don Smart, who is nearing his 100th appearance for Indy Eleven, intercepted a pass in Miami territory and squared it for Zayed. With Vega just barely getting back in position, the forward could only clip the bar as the chance went begging.

In the 70th minute, Miami FC found their third goal of the evening as Stefano Pinho completed his brace. Defender Hunter Freeman marauded into Indy Eleven territory and whipped up a pass into the six-yard box that Pinho was able to get his forehead to, again heading past Busch who could only watch.

“Indiana’s Team” would not go quietly, however, and in the 88th minute, they were able to earn a goal for the forward Zayed. Active in attack all game long, midfielder Ben Speas was able to skip around a pair of defenders and get a cross into the area for Zayed. The Irishman’s direct header found the top corner to pull one back, but Miami FC took home all three points and Indy left empty-handed.

INDIANAPOLIS (August 5, 2017) – In the second of two matches against FC Edmonton in the Fall, Indy Eleven fell 3-1 to the visiting side despite a spectacular free kick goal from defender Nemanja Vukovic.

Edmonton enjoyed the early opportunities of the match, the first of which came inside the opening five minutes. Eddies defender Abdoulaye Diakite was able to direct a header near goal before teammate Tomi Ameobi produced an acrobatic flick at the ball only to see his shot rise narrowly over the bar. Seven minutes later, Edmonton came close again as Fordyce took a pass from Ameobi, but in settling his touch he fired right at goalkeeper Indy ‘netminder Jon Busch.

However, inside the same minute Indy midfielder Don Smart sprinted down the flank on the counter and was able to force a good save from Farago despite nearly losing his balance. Still pressing, another chance for the hosts came just fifteen minutes later for forward Eamon Zayed. Breaking just wide of the box, forward David Goldsmith took a touch towards goal that was nicked off a defender into the path of Zayed. The Irishman then took the effort off the bounce and watched as his curler dipped and clipped the top of the bar.

The final quality chances of the first half for both sides came as Edmonton’s Ben Fisk, who caused problems all night, rifled off the post into the path of Daryl Fordyce, whose shot was blocked by Falvey. Meanwhile, for Indy, defender Nemanja Vukovic stepped up to take a free kick just over 20 yards away from goal but saw his swerving effort ripple on the top of the net for a goal kick.

The second half was truly the tell of the tale for both sides as all four goals plus five yellow cards occurred in the final 45 minutes. The opening chance of the half came as Edmonton’s Fisk got a cross into the box that took a pair of deflections off Indy defender Marco Franco and Eddies teammate Daryl Fordyce before Busch was able to corral the loose ball.

However, in the 51st minute, FC Edmonton was awarded a penalty as Indy’s Marco Franco was whistled for bringing down Edmonton right back Pedro Galvao in the box. In the 53rd minute, Edmonton attacker Dustin Corea stepped up to convert from the spot and open the scoring. Six minutes later, Edmonton tallied their second of the night off a corner from Ben Fisk. Swinging in a cross from his right foot, Fisk planted one near both Diakite and defender Albert Watson. While Watson was judged to have gotten the last touch, the ball narrowly crossed the line as “Buschy” scrambled to keep out the effort only to see the side official rule a goal.

Not to be deterred, Indy would command plenty of the ball in the ten minutes to follow and, in the 66th minute, earned a free kick for “Vuko” to step to once again. From just over 20 yards out, the Montenegrin left back ripped a shot over the wall and past Eddies ‘keeper Tyson Farago to pull one back. However, as Indy pressed higher in attempts to equalize, Edmonton would get their third goal of the night again through Dustin Corea. As Daryl Fordyce raced down the left side on the counter attack, he would roll in a ball directly into the path of Corea who had nothing more than a tap-in to finish the move and give Edmonton a two-goal lead.

The final chances of the match fell for Indy inside the final eight minutes. Midfielder Brad Ring would see a shot skew just wide from well outside the area, while Nemanja Vukovic saw a third free kick clip the bar from 28 yards out and fail to fully hit the target.

“They outworked us and outplayed us, and they wanted it more than we did tonight so it’s a big disappointment that at home we didn’t show greater heart,” said Hankinson. “That’s the story of the game, they wanted it more.”

INDIANAPOLIS (July 30, 2017) – In the Fall Season opener, Indy Eleven knocked off FC Edmonton to continue their six-game unbeaten run and pick up where they left off with winning ways.

It didn’t take long for “Indiana’s Team” to get off on the right foot in the first half. Earning his first league start, forward David Goldsmith put Indy in front in the 7th minute after heavy lifting from Don Smart to force Edmonton ‘keeper Tyson Farago out of position. Two minutes later, Smart again forced Farago into an excellent save with a rifled effort at the near post. Indy Eleven goalkeeper Jon Busch had another excellent night out, making one of his seven saves in the 27th minute on a lifted effort from Eddies’ forward Darryl Fordyce.

The hosts would claw one back in the 32nd minute when forward Tomi Ameobi got on the scoresheet in his 100th appearance for the club. Midfielder Ben Fisk shifted from right to left before curling in a perfectly placed cross at the back post, and Ameobi made no mistake from close range in equalizing for his side. However, Indy would restore their lead ten minutes later when forward Eamon Zayed scored his fourth league goal of the year on an inch perfect pass from midfielder Ben Speas.

Though the second half started slow, a plethora of chance fell Edmonton’s way in the final ten minutes that Indy had answers for every time. In the 81st minute, Edmonton substitute attacker Dustin Correa had a pair of free kicks – one that tested Busch in the center of his goal, and the other that found the head of Ameobi only for the forward to send a glancing header over the bar. The closest the home side would get to earning a draw came right at the death when defender Karsten Smith hopped on his bike and produced an acrobatic effort that nearly found the back of the net only to sail just over the crossbar.

INDIANAPOLIS (July 30, 2017) – In the Fall Season opener, Indy Eleven knocked off FC Edmonton to continue their six-game unbeaten run and pick up where they left off with winning ways.

It didn’t take long for “Indiana’s Team” to get off on the right foot in the first half. Earning his first league start, forward David Goldsmith put Indy in front in the 7th minute after heavy lifting from Don Smart to force Edmonton ‘keeper Tyson Farago out of position. Two minutes later, Smart again forced Farago into an excellent save with a rifled effort at the near post. Indy Eleven goalkeeper Jon Busch had another excellent night out, making one of his seven saves in the 27th minute on a lifted effort from Eddies’ forward Darryl Fordyce.

The hosts would claw one back in the 32nd minute when forward Tomi Ameobi got on the scoresheet in his 100th appearance for the club. Midfielder Ben Fisk shifted from right to left before curling in a perfectly placed cross at the back post, and Ameobi made no mistake from close range in equalizing for his side. However, Indy would restore their lead ten minutes later when forward Eamon Zayed scored his fourth league goal of the year on an inch perfect pass from midfielder Ben Speas.

Though the second half started slow, a plethora of chance fell Edmonton’s way in the final ten minutes that Indy had answers for every time. In the 81st minute, Edmonton substitute attacker Dustin Correa had a pair of free kicks – one that tested Busch in the center of his goal, and the other that found the head of Ameobi only for the forward to send a glancing header over the bar. The closest the home side would get to earning a draw came right at the death when defender Karsten Smith hopped on his bike and produced an acrobatic effort that nearly found the back of the net only to sail just over the crossbar.

With the win, Indy picks up their first three points of the Fall Season and returns home to IUPUI’s Michael A. Carroll Stadium to host FC Edmonton on Saturday, August 5 at 7:30 P.M. ET. INDIANAPOLIS (July 15, 2017) – Indy Eleven rounded out a late Spring Season surge with a big 2-0 win over Jacksonville Armada FC to extend their unbeaten run to five straight games and provide a momentous boost heading into the Fall Season.

A scoreless first half, it took the “Boys in Blue” just three minutes to find the back of the net through defender Nemanja Vukovic. Following a corner, midfielder Brad Ring played a fantastic crossfield pass to Vukovic, whose tidy touch put him in perfect position to fire on goal. Curling a hybrid chip to the back post, the defender’s clipped effort beat Armada FC ‘keeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell and they took a deserved lead.

Staving off a few chances for the visiting side, Indy would then double their lead just twenty minutes later through substitute Craig Henderson. Forward Eamon Zayed settled a cross over the head of everyone in the box and played a short pass to the New Zealand native, and Henderson’s quick touch and turn placed him directly in front of Patterson-Sewell. Taking a deft stab at the bouncing ball, Henderson poked it past the opposition ‘netminder and Indy doubled their lead.

Defending for the whole 90 minutes, Indy goalkeeper Jon Busch was called into action on multiple occasions but made his most impressive save of the night into stoppage time. The ‘netminder earned his fourth clean sheet on the season to add to his tally of 11 in 2016.

INDIANAPOLIS (July 8, 2017) – Indy Eleven extended its unbeaten streak to four games with a 2-1 win over the New York Cosmos at home in Carroll Stadium.

A heated affair from the first whistle, the Cosmos jumped in front of the chances first when forward Eugene Starikov attempted to test Indy ‘keeper Jon Busch, but his shot skewed wide and out of play for a goal kick. Indy responded minutes later when Don Smart ripped one at Cosmos ‘netminder Jimmy Maurer, who had rushed off his line to clear a bouncing ball near the edge of the box. In giving it away, Maurer backpedaled towards goal and made a fingertip save to prevent Indy’s first goal.

In the 17th minute, Indy’s momentum swung full on as forward Eamon Zayed was judged to have been pushed in the back by Cosmos defender David Ochieng, giving Indy a chance from the penalty spot. Stepping up, midfielder Don Smart coolly slotted past Maurer, who guessed the wrong way, to put “Indiana’s Team” in front.

Indy would hold their lead for just under ten minutes when the Cosmos pulled one back through midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma. Starting on Saturday after entering as a substitute in Indy’s 1-1 draw with New York on Independence Day, midfielder Eric Calvillo left a roller that Ledesma slotted home to pull one back. The Cosmos would continue to ask questions through the end of the half, but “Buschy” produced a pair of saves to hold preserve his side’s first half work.

New York would continue to pile on pressure, though the “Boys In Blue” were on hand to respond. Ledesma rattled the bar with a close-range effort in the 65th minute that Busch was in place for, but once again the atmosphere at Carroll Stadium seemingly sucked the ball in the back of the net as the Indy Eleven retook their lead. Off a corner kick in the 75th minute, forward Justin Braun made a run to the back post to meet defender Nemanja Vukovic’s curling cross and powered the delivery past Maurer for the second goal of the game.

Indy would face another few chances by the Cosmos at the death, but time after time the defense held their line to clear the danger. The win marks three straight for the Eleven at Carroll Stadium against the Cosmos and puts them in prime position to close out the Spring Season next week.

INDIANAPOLIS (July 4, 2017) – An entertaining bout between Indy Eleven and the New York Cosmos wrapped up with both sides taking home a point at MCU Park.

Indy got the match going quickly with a scoring chance inside the first two minutes for midfielder Don Smart. With forward Eamon Zayed streaking down the left, the Irishman stopped on a dime to lift a ball towards Smart at the back post. However, as the ball missed the head of a Cosmos defender, Smart miscued his shot and the chance went wide.

After continual pressing, though, Indy would open the scoring just after the opening half hour thanks to midfielder Ben Speas. Pushing up the right side once again, defender Marco Franco threaded the needle for one of the newer “Boys In Blue,” and a clever touch from Speas allowed him to slot the ball between Cosmos’ ‘keeper Jimmy Maurer’s legs for the first goal of the night. For Speas, it was his third goal of the year, putting him level with Eamon Zayed for second on the team scoring charts, and the second assist in as many weeks for defender Marco Franco.

The best chance of the opening half for the hosts came in the 40th minute through the captain Ayoze. With enough real estate in front of him, the defender stepped up and ripped a shot at Indy ‘keeper Jon Busch, who was able to corral the ball after making one of his eight saves on the night, an individual game record.

The second half saw the Cosmos press higher up the pitch on the Indy goal, and after creating a few chances they earned another solid look in the 60th minute. Forward Emmanuel Ledesma was in a similar position as his teammate Ayoze when taking a drive at Busch’s goal, except this time the ‘netminder could only watch as Ledesma’s bullet landed just wide of the far post. Two minutes later, Indy would get their best chance of the second half as Smart settled a ball for Justin Braun. Though Cosmos defender Ryan Richter would head the chance clear, Indy defender Nemanja Vukovic followed up on the half-volley only for the shot to settle wide.

Drama ensued in the 86th minute when Indy Eleven defender Colin Falvey came together with Ledesma in the penalty area, which resulted in the head official pointing directly to the spot. Stepping up, Ledesma beat Busch to Busch’s left into the side-netting and the Cosmos were able to pull one back for the draw.

INDIANAPOLIS (June 24, 2017) – An end-to-end affair that featured numerous chances for both sides, Indy Eleven defeated North Carolina FC, 2-1, to earn its second straight victory of the year and the first on the road in 2017.

The hosts got things started quickly at WakeMed Soccer Park when midfielder Tiyi Shipalane put the finishing touches on a move that ended in unlucky fashion for the “Boys in Blue.” Working forward from the right side, forward Billy Schuler got on the end of a pass that he put under Busch only to see it ricochet off the right post. However, in the right place at the right time, Shipalane was able to tap-in from close range to open the scoring.

In the 17th minute, forward Matt Fondy was gifted an opportunity to double the lead, but Indy goalkeeper Jon Busch made one of his eight major saves on the night to keep him out. The first chance for Indy fell the way of Justin Braun in the 20th minute. Breaking ahead, Braun was played in by Zayed but after rounding the NCFC ‘keeper Sylvestre, he couldn’t get an effort on goal. However, just a minute later Braun was in the thick of things again and wouldn’t let a second chance fall by the wayside. Working combination play down the right flank, right back Marco Franco whipped in a cross that the forward put a bullet header on to power home past Sylvestre and level the scoring.

Without hardly time to blink, Indy rode their wave of momentum and Braun was involved once more in making things happen. Streaking up the center, Braun spotted the run of Eamon Zayed after receiving consecutive one-touch passes from midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic and Ben Speas. Playing in Zayed on his left foot, the forward saw his shot take a fortunate deflection and beat Sylvestre to put Indy Eleven in front.

Playing out the first half, three golden opportunities came to NCFC. Two for Lance Laing came in the 32nd and 37th minutes, but “Buschy” made himself big to save a chipped effort on the first and beat away a second five minutes later to preserve the advantage. However, Indy nearly added a third before the break after Ben Speas saw his shot saved only for the rebound to fall to Braun. Though just a few yards from goal, the second year “Boy in Blue” couldn’t put it in the back of the net.

A closely contested second half, one of the better looks on goal came in the opening minutes for Eamon Zayed. Off a free kick by defender Nemanja Vukovic, the Irishman dipped his head just underneath the cross to get it on target but Sylvestre was in the way to prevent a third. Things really began rolling for Indy in the 56th minute when “Vuko,” again forward into the box, was brought down by NCFC defender Kadeem Moses for a penalty. Zayed stepped up to the spot, but Sylvestre was equal to a low, driven effort to the ‘keeper’s right side and Indy couldn’t extend their one-goal lead.

A final set of chances fell to a tired set of NCFC legs in the 77th minute. On the turn, forward Billy Schuler came closest as he flashed a shot towards a near blindsided Busch, but the veteran turned up again to get low and collect with both palms. For Indy, the win signified the second in as many weeks against North Carolina FC ahead of their trip to take on the New York Cosmos at MCU Park on Tuesday, July 4.
